January 16th/ Distinct from this world

By: Andria Davisson

Prayer Focus:

For the Bride of Christ, the church, to be distinguishable from the world.

Scripture Focus:

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.               -Romans 12:2

…..and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds                               – Ephesians 4:23

Today’s prayer focus is that the Church would be fully transformed into the unique entity, easily distinguishable from the world, she was purposed to be.

Transformed–  What does this really mean?

Transformed: verb. to make a thorough or dramatic change in the form, appearance, or character of.

This word transformed, is used only once in the gospels in the recounting of Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration in Matthew 17:2 and Mark 9:2  (the mountain of “transformation” — same word, metemorphōthē): “And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light”

In my books, that was a “thorough or dramatic change in appearance and character”  A change both inside and out!

That is our heart cry for the Church as a whole today.  That we would not merely be a people who exchange a to-do list of the flesh for a to-do list of the law.  That we move  beyond avoidance of worldly behaviors to being radically changed to become the light on a hill that can not be hidden.  That we would soar above just beautiful buildings, tasty coffee, and good music to a place of freedom.  A place where the triumphant power and transformation of the Holy Spirit, through our faith in Christ, would flow like living water, cleansing all it touches–restoring the awe and beauty of Jesus Christ in a barren land.

Join us today with all your might to war for this mindset revolution in the Church. That in our dedicated pursuit, God in His mercy would reveal a knowledge of Him that puts to death our carnal pursuits that set themselves up against the fullness of Christ in us.

Let’s Pray:

Heavenly Father, our minds are not only limited in knowledge but they are fallen, bent toward setting itself against your absolute supremacy in out lives.  Lord forgive us for our ways.  Pour out your Spirit in profound ways to do what only it can do, was us with regeneration and renewal of our spirit minds.  Father, we surrender our ignorance today and say have your way with our hardened hearts.  Give us hearts of flesh to be able to behold your glory.  Father we declare our radical dependence on you.   Come have your way.
