January 22nd – Stepping out in Faith

By: Jerry West, DLC Care Pastor

It’s coming….Can you feel it?  This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Discover Life Church will step out in faith believing God for supernatural closeness between our entire church family and the God of the Universe that births unity and connected purpose.  We are believing for God to reveal his heart for every member of our congregation in order to empower us to live in the fullness of his power and purposes, unhindered by our individual fleshly desires and the distractions of the world.  We are, in faith, seeking all of Him.

Taking our model from the likes of Esther as she called their entire people group to a three day fast from all food and drink, believing for the hand of God to move with miraculous protection; we will fast from all food and non-water drink, believing for a miraculous unification and passion to bring Heaven to Earth to erupt in Discover Life Church.   We will believe to see and commune with the Blesser and no longer be satisfied with just the blessing.  Oh that we may look upon His face!

Specific Details of times we will start the fast, break the fast, gather to celebrate and mark God’s faithfulness in the fast, successful fast suggestions, and scriptural references on fasting will be released tomorrow.  Until then, let us call faith to arise.

Stepping out in faith – by Jerry West, DLC Care Pastor
Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
Hebrews 11:1
I have discovered the secret of a successful Christian life. Are you ready for it? It is living and walking by faith every day. It is consistency. It is staying with it. As philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche wrote, “The essential thing ‘in Heaven and in Earth’ is . . . that there should be long obedience in the same direction.”
Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (NKJV). Or, as the New Living Translation puts it, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.”
Author J. Oswald Sanders said that “faith enables the believing soul to treat the future as present and the invisible as seen.” Faith sees what could be. Faith does things. Faith takes action. Faith takes risks. Faith leaves its comfort zones to do things for the Lord. And faith that doesn’t produce works is a faith that doesn’t work.
When we step out in faith, God will work. But if we don’t step out in faith, then really not much is going to happen. God works through people who are applying faith.
Faith is not just running a race; it is also walking the walk. Romans 13:13 says, “Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy” (NLT). God is saying, “You’re a Christian. Act like a Christian.”
Hebrews 10:38 says, “The just shall live by faith” (NKJV). We must live by faith. Feelings come and go. We cannot attach our Christian experience to how we are feeling emotionally in the moment. We must learn how to walk by faith.

Let’s Pray –

Father God we declare our desire to live by faith and not by sight.   Father reveal to us the higher things of your Kingdom.  Father our Hope is solely in you.  Holy Spirit teach us to walk in greater faith.
