January 8th/ Revelation of my purpose

By: Andria Davisson

Prayer Focus:

A fresh revelation of our purpose

Scripture Focus:

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. – Psalms 16:11

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.  – Ephesians 2:10

Today’s prayer focus is to seek the Lord for increased revelation on the plans and purposes He has ordained for our lives.   It seems like common sense that if you wanted to know about the purpose of an invention you would ask the creator of it.  However, often times in our lives we seek the advice of parents, co-workers, college counselors, or the latest research on the most profitable up and coming careers before we ask Father God our Creator.  Although these things are not bad in and of themselves, if we fail to ask God first, we risk never truly discovering the full truth of our purpose. For as the Word says, you cannot serve two masters, the world’s counsel and God’s, without loving one and hating the other.  (Please note, this does not mean that we do not seek wise godly counsel after we seek the Lord earnestly).

Perhaps what holds us back sometimes is forgetting that we are not a mass-produced, assembly line product with a generic owner’s manual.  We were deliberately planned, specifically gifted, and lovingly assigned for unique kingdom tasks by a Master Craftsman.  These tasks, which the Creator of all the Universe has for us to do, will remain undone and incomplete until by faith we obey and thus step into the will of God.  What a beautiful place to be!

Let’s Pray:

Heavenly Father, You have promised to show us the path of life as we sit in your presence.  Father, we repent for looking to the world for answers that only You can give.  Father, forgive us and release your mercy to stir us up to passionately pursue you for the guidance and instructions for our life here on Earth. Let your purposes be our purposes.  Father remove in us our self-sufficiency and release us into God-sufficiency.  Father, we declare our only desire is to bring you glory by accomplishing the good works you have prepared for us in advance.  God, we cry out to encounter you for supernatural revelation of your plans.  Father, open our eyes and hearts to your grand plans.  In Jesus’s name we pray.  Amen.
